BLS8 will be held as scheduled at the Ito International Research Center (and other venues) at The University of Tokyo. The symposium will be live-streamed on the day of the symposium and will also be available on-demand for about three months after the symposium.

Entrance of the main venue: Look for outside signs below, to get to the entrance of the Ito International Research Center. Please use the stairs near the entrance hall, to get to B1 and B2 floors (Registration Desk at B2 floor).

Registration

  • Participants need to pre-register at the confit platform
  • Please tell us your Registration Number (e.g., A00007) at the Registration Desk and receive a name card. 
  • Please be sure to know your Registration Number (e.g., A00007), as it helps us speedy check-in.
  • At the Registration Desk, please pick up your name card by yourself. The name card is displayed in the order of the alphabet of your surname.
  • Please be sure to wear the prescribed name card at the symposium venue. Please note that those not wearing the name card may be denied entry.
  • Symposium materials (conference bag, tumbler, and a file with information paper) will be distributed to participants, which can be picked up by presenting your name card at the Registration Desk after March 4.

  • Please login to the online platform with the login ID and password, which is already notified to registered participants via e-mail.

Poster Session

  • The onsite poster session will be held from 17:30 to 19:30 from March 4 to 6, at Yayoi Auditorium and Anex, in Yayoi Campus of The University of Tokyo (10 min walk from Ito Hall).
  • Posters will be exchanged each day. Please check which day you are allocated a slot for a poster. Posters can be displayed at the venue from 17:00 each day, and should be taken down at the end of poster session.

Workshop

  • Six workshops will be held from 12:00 to 16:30 on March 3 (Sun) at Yayoi Auditorium and Anex, in the Yayoi Campus of The University of Tokyo (10 min walk from Ito Hall).
  • Workshops are not live-streamed nor available for on-demand viewing.
  • Each workshop venue is equipped with an HDMI terminal and a projector (or large display). For presentations, please use your own PC. No one other than the presenter may use the power supply during the workshops.
  • Please visit the "Workshop" page for detailed information about the room allocated to each workshop.
  • If you would like to join the "Icebreaker party" after the workshop, please follow the guiding person leading you to the party venue at the University of Tokyo Coop Cafeteria.

Drink & Snack Corner

  • Drink Corners (#2, 3,4) are located at the B1F and B2F. Drink & Snack Corner (#1) is located at the B1F, near the company exhibition booths of our SYOGUN sponsors.
  • Water dispensers are available throughout the day. Coffee and tea are available during the Coffee/tea break times:
  • Please make use of the tumblers included in the Symposium materials for a SUSTAINABLE MEETING.
  • No food or beverages are allowed in the Ito Hall, except for drinks brought in by tumblers.

Lunch

  • Lunch will not be provided at the Symposium. Please use the on-campus cafeteria or nearby restaurants.
  • Please refrain from bringing food and beverages into Ito Hall (except for drinks brought in tumblers).

Wi-Fi

  • Free Wi-Fi is available for use at the Ito International Research Center. Wi-Fi information will be displayed at the main venue.
  • No Wi-Fi is available at the workshop and poster venue, except for those who use eduroam network.

Dependent Care Rooms

  • We aim for BLS8 to be a child-friendly symposium where everyone can have a meaningful time. We set up two rooms for child (baby) care. Please use them freely depending on your purpose.
  • You may also bring your own device (PC, tablet, smartphone, etc. capable of viewing Zoom) to watch the live streaming. Wi-fi is available.

Tokyo City Information Desk

  • "Tokyo City Information Desk" is available for general tourist information about Tokyo (at B2F).
  • Interested participants can sign up for the bus tour (see below). Bookings are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.

Icebreaker Party

  • Location: University of Tokyo Coop Chuo Dining Hall (Central Cafeteria; underground floor; entrance stairs in front of Yasuda Auditorium; see photo below)
  • Date and Time: March 3 (Sun) 17:00-19:00. Doors open at 16:45.
  • Free of charge (only for participants of this symposium and accompanying person)
  • Registration Desk for this symposium will be held at the entrance. Please wear the name card you will receive at the Registration Desk. Please tell us your Registration Number (e.g., A00007) at the Registration Desk and receive a name card. 
  • Please be sure to know your Registration Number (e.g., A00007), as it helps us speedy check-in.
  • At the Registration Desk, please pick up your name card by yourself. The name card is displayed in the order of the alphabet of your surname.
  • The first floor offers a regular menu, and the second floor offers a vegetarian menu. See below the menu and check the ingredients contained in the dish (e.g., for your allergy considerations).
  • The Icebreaker is intended to provide opportunities to meet participants, by providing some snacks / light meals and drinks (but not proper meals). Please enjoy your dinner after the party.

Banquet

  • Location: Ueno Seiyoken, Sakura Room
  • Date and Time: March 7 (Thu), 18:30 - 20:30 *Doors open 18:10
  • An admission fee (12,000 JPY) is required, and only those pre-registered for the Banquet can attend.
  • Please wear your name card. Your name card will show your registration status to the banquet.
  • Bus service will be provided from the symposium venue (Ito Hall, University of Tokyo) to the Banquet venue (Ueno Seiyoken).
  • Bus boarding: near the Ito Hall. After the sessions finish at 17:00, you will be guided to the bus stop. Please wait for the buses at the B2F or B1F of the main venue.
  • The last bus departs around 17:40. Depending on traffic conditions, the departure time may be slightly earlier or later. 
  • No bus service will be available from Ueno Seiyoken at the end of the Banquet. Please return to your hotel by public transportation or cab. Please check the map of Ueno Seiyoken here.

Bus Tour (for participants from overseas only)

  • Tokyo Convention & Visitors Bureau offers foreign visitors free bus tours to Tokyo's most popular sightseeing areas on the evening of March 8, just after the closure of the Symposium.
  • Interested participants can sign up for the bus tour at the "Tokyo City Information Desk" near the Registration Desk. Bookings are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.

Symposium Etiquette

  • Participants are advised not to photograph or video and voice recording any sessions without the author’s consent.
  • Participants are also advised to obtain consent from authors before citing any of their work presented at the symposium.
  • Switch your mobile phone to silent mode or turn it off completely during the sessions.
  • Turn off the volume of other electronic devices such as, PC and DVD, and reduce screen brightness. We appreciate your cooperation.
